Every claim sits where three worlds meet: the science that created the uncertainty, the business that did the work, and the program that pays for it. Grantwork reads all three, and writes the claim so it holds when the CRA asks.
An SR&ED claim lives at the meeting point of three worlds: the laboratory, the factory floor, and the funding program. Most advisors stand in one of them. Grantwork was built to connect all three.
Nearly a decade in academic research: the training to see exactly where established knowledge ends and genuine technological uncertainty begins, and to document the path through it.
Years inside industrial R&D: products, formulations, processes and scale-up, with the commercial pressure behind them. The work SR&ED rewards, lived first-hand.
SR&ED, IRAP, Mitacs, NSERC, CanExport and the provincial credits. What each rewards, what each requires, and how to sequence them so they work together rather than against each other.
Claims and applications run differently, and most companies need both. Each track is handled end to end by the person who scoped it.
Grantwork's practice is built around one thing done thoroughly: the Scientific Research and Experimental Development tax credit, from the first eligibility question to the CRA review. Grants and government funding advisory extends the same work, and further services are on the way.
The complete claim, managed end to end. Every engagement covers three stages of the same process:
Advisory on IRAP, Mitacs, CanExport, provincial tax credits, and hiring incentives, sequenced alongside your SR&ED claim.
See the full funding picturePrograms interact as well as stack. We model the combination before anything is applied for, so a grant does not quietly reduce a claim.
See what stacking adds up toIf a claim is selected for review, the person who prepared it answers the questions, as part of the same engagement.
What triggers a reviewPoorva Vyas is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Grantwork. She holds a PhD in Biology with a research focus in neuroscience and a Master’s in Biotechnology, completed four years of postdoctoral research in the life sciences, and has contributed to ten peer-reviewed publications in neuroscience, molecular biology, and natural product research.
She has more than 10 years of SR&ED and grant funding experience, first preparing and defending claims in-house for the companies she worked for, and now advising clients through Grantwork. Very few consultants in Canada bring a doctorate in the science they are writing about, or have sat on the claimant’s side of the table.
Over her career she has established research laboratories, led multidisciplinary R&D teams, developed products and formulations, optimized manufacturing processes, and worked alongside scientists, engineers, and business leaders to move technologies from the bench to the production floor.
Plain-language briefings on the programs we work with. No sign-up, nothing gated.
No retainer, no hourly billing, and no fee unless a credit reaches your account. Your rate is quoted in writing at the first call, before any work starts, and does not change while you are a client.
A percentage of the credit you actually receive, not of the credit claimed or estimated. If the CRA reduces the claim, the fee falls with it. If nothing is recovered, there is no fee.
The rate is set against your file, in writing, at the first call. You are told which factors put it where it is: how many projects, how many provinces, whether records exist or have to be rebuilt.
Agreed at the start of the engagement and unchanged for as long as you remain a client. It does not rise because your claim grew, and it is not adjusted after a good year.
Applications such as IRAP, CanExport and Mitacs are a flat fee per application, agreed and invoiced before the work starts. A grant turns on approval, not on an amount, so a percentage does not fit it. Grant work is never bundled into the SR&ED percentage.
If the CRA reviews the claim, the person who prepared it answers the questions, at no additional cost.
If your work does not qualify, you are told at the first call, at no cost, rather than billed to find out.
Start with a short introductory meeting, up to thirty minutes, by video or phone. You tell us what you are working on; we ask the questions that show whether a claim is there, and what it could be worth. No preparation needed.
