Poorva Vyas is the Founder and Principal Consultant of Grantwork. She holds a PhD in Biology with a research focus in neuroscience and a Master’s in Biotechnology, completed four years of postdoctoral research in the life sciences, and has contributed to ten peer-reviewed publications in neuroscience, molecular biology, and natural product research.

She has more than 10 years of SR&ED and grant funding experience, first preparing and defending claims in-house for the companies she worked for, and now advising clients through Grantwork. Very few consultants in Canada bring a doctorate in the science they are writing about, or have sat on the claimant’s side of the table.

Over her career she has established research laboratories, led multidisciplinary R&D teams, developed products and formulations, optimized manufacturing processes, and worked alongside scientists, engineers, and business leaders to move technologies from the bench to the production floor.

Her funding experience covers SR&ED, NRC IRAP, Mitacs, NSERC, CanExport, and other federal and provincial programs. She handles claims end to end: eligibility assessment, technical scoping with the R&D team, claim preparation, eligible expenditure analysis, and CRA review and audit support. When a claim is questioned, she is the one who answers it.

Her work spans biotechnology, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, natural health products, food and beverage, cannabis, cosmetics and personal care, advanced manufacturing, chemical engineering, and mechanical engineering. Whatever the field, she can read a client’s technical work quickly and tell them plainly what qualifies and what does not.

Poorva founded Grantwork to bring scientific training, industrial R&D experience, and funding expertise into one advisory practice for Canadian companies. Grantwork works with a network of experienced specialists where a project calls for it, while Poorva keeps strategic leadership and quality oversight on every engagement.
